Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) is $2.77 on automated informal entries at or under $2,500 USD. Formal entries pay 0.3464% of value, minimum $34.58 and maximum $670.86 (CBP FY2027). Value over $2,500 requires a formal entry and a bond.
If country of origin is China, add the list rate on top of MFN — List 4A is 7.5%, Lists 1–3 are typically 25%, with 2024 review rates of 50% or 100% on some codes. Routing through Montreal does not change Chinese origin.
For Canada or Mexico origin with a valid certification, MFN and forced-labor 301 drop to 0% in this calculator. China Section 301 still only applies to Chinese origin. Keep the USMCA certificate of origin on file.
